The BC Finance Minister announced last week that our cash-hungry health care system will receive billions of dollars more in the next few years. Up to this point our campaign has risen to the challenge of proposing several methods to help scrape together the paltry $34 million (the overall income from hospital pay parking in the province) when this exploitative practice comes to an end (and it will). Considering the comments from the Finance Minister that enlightened all British Columbians to the notion that the previous Liberal government were not liberal enough with their health care expenditures, we’re officially changing our stance on the matter of recouping the lost parking revenue.
The HospitalPayParking.ca campaign will no longer advocate for income replacement of pay parking revenue. The 2019 budget includes plenty of additional taxpayer’s money to make this tiny loss of income financially irrelevant.
